Pal Group approached Eascan Automation to engineer a reliable actuation system for an inkjet printer being integrated into a vacuum packaging machine. The goal was to automate the precise positioning of the print head to apply expiration dates directly onto food packages. The existing supplier had failed to provide adequate technical support, and the client needed a responsive, local partner to deliver a robust, long-term solution.

The Solution

Eascan engineered and fabricated a one-axis servo-driven traversing unit designed to carry and position the print head with millimeter precision in sync with the packaging machine’s cycle. The custom stainless steel assembly ensures food-grade compatibility.

At the core of the solution is a German-built Leibinger Jet3UP Pro inkjet printer—selected for its ability to seal the nozzle and recirculate ink, preventing clogs and reducing maintenance compared to traditional inkjet systems. Eascan designed and built a dedicated control panel to interface with the packaging machine, enabling fully automated operation of the printer’s movement and print trigger sequence.

Extended Support & Validation

Pal Group engaged Eascan to support other food processor experiencing similar issues with nearly identical print systems supplied by an out-of-country vendor. Eascan reverse-engineered the system, performed diagnostics, sourced replacement parts, and restored the unit to operational condition. This confirmed Eascan’s capability not only to design new systems but to troubleshoot and support third-party automation components with limited documentation.
